Happy National Candy Corn Day

Greetings:

Today is National Candy Corn Day. Whenever I think of Candy Corn I think of my Mom who died three years ago, oddly enough on October 30th. I think she would be happy to know she died on the National Day of her favorite candy.

Although Candy Corn is not one of my favorite candies, in fact I don’t eat it ever, I was interested to know a little history about it. According to the National Confectioners Association,

“Candy corn has been around for more than 100 years. George Renninger, an employee of the Wunderlee Candy Company, invented the popular confection in the 1880s and Wunderlee became the first to produce the candy. The Goelitz Candy Company (now Jelly Belly Candy Company) started producing the confection in 1900 and still produces candy corn today.

When candy corn first appeared, it was popular among farmers because of its agrarian look. The tri-color design was considered revolutionary and the public went crazy for it. Lack of machinery meant that candy corn was only made seasonally from March to November. Candy corn has remained unchanged for more than 100 years and is a favorite at Halloween.”

What strikes me most about Candy Corn, or any invention is that someone had to have a vision or a dream in order to make it happen. Although today candy corn is made mostly by machines in the day the concept and process was revolutionary.

In order to create anything new you have to be willing to be revolutionary. You can’t just stick with what you know you have to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Perhaps things that have never been tried before.

Happy Halloween

Greetings:

Halloween is just a couple days away. There are lots of ways to celebrate Halloween that don’t include eating tons of sugar and dressing in a strange costume.

First, the candy thing. My trick is to treat myself to healthy snacks and buy candy that I don’t like for the trick-or-treaters. That way I am not tempted and I still get to enjoy the fun of handing out candy.

Invite people over for dinner on Halloween. Keep it simple by serving pumpkin soup and perhaps caramel apples for dessert. Easy and fun.

For additional party and food ideas check out the Food Network website. It is packed with ideas for goolish treats.

Costumes are fun. You could use this opportunity to dress up as you see yourself five years from now. Perhaps an entrepreneur, the President of your company or something else that has meaning to you. That could even be the theme of your dinner party, have everyone come dressed as they see themselves in five years.

Have a fun and safe Halloween.

Morning the Death of my Fish Beta

Greetings:

Today has a sad tone to it. My fish Beta died. I found him floating on the bottom of his bowl when I went to feed him. I haven’t had Beta very long, a few months, but I really liked him. He was also part of my Feng Shui and I am thinking a dead fish isn’t such good Feng Shui.

I am feeling bad because I cleaned his bowl yesterday and I am thinking I must have done something wrong. Maybe the water was too cold when I put him back in. I have noticed he wasn’t eating much for the last couple of days. I just feel bad that he died.

The coaching lesson in this is it is okay to feel bad. Things happen in life and emotions are normal. Some people might say, “It was just a fish.” And true he was but I cared for him. He meant something to me. Therefore I have a right to feel sad and no one has to understand that but me.

When something happens in your life take the time to feel the emotions. When you allow yourself to feel you are teaching yourself to create a deeper connection to your emotions and feelings. The deeper you can feel sadness the deeper you can feel happiness.

Get sucked into the positive energy

Greetings:

It isn’t difficult these days to get sucked into the negative energy. It is everywhere. To stay positive during these challenging times it takes commitment and the willingness to be sucked into the positive energy. It is out there it just takes a little more to find it.

How you view things really does have to do with your perspective. This can either be a really bad time or a really great time of opportunity. The worst thing you can do is get off balance by what appears to be happening. Many of the experts are saying this is simply a course correction and we are in the mist of a global change into a more positive time. It is obvious that we can’t continue on the course we have been on as a nation or a planet.

To stay positive I have been focusing on positive information and news, instead of the mainstream media. I was looking for a book for reference for one of my days and I rediscovered on my shelves “The Magic of Thinking BIG” by David J. Schwartz, PhD. The book was originally printed in 1959 and has become a classic. I read it many years ago but decided to re-read it. The concepts and ideas seem somewhat obvious today however when it was written it was revolutionary. I find the book to be a great reminder of what is possible if one keeps focused.

Years ago I attended a lecture by Edwene Gaines. She is an amazing teacher on the concepts of abundance and prosperity. I recently checked her new book out of the library, “The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity – A simple guide to Unlimited Abundance.” They only had the audio version which is wonderful because Edwene reads the book herself. This book isn’t full of earth shattering ideas. What it is full of is basic solid principles that have been proven over the ages to be true.

It seems to me that there is a theme happening. In Jack Canfield’s lastest ezine his featured article was entitled, “It’s Your Response that Counts.” The article was about how your response to any situation is what counts. He uses the formula:

E + R = O
(Events + Responses = Outcome)

This powerful formula that Jack has been teaching for years simply means that whatever the event is, the response you have to it will determine your outcome. In essence you get to choose the outcome because you choose your response.

Hopefully you are getting the idea that there is plenty of positive things around that you can submerge yourself into.

Remember action is the cure for fear. When you begin to feel the fear get into action and do something. Focus on what is working and what is good about life. There is really nothing you can do about the global crisis however you don’t need to add to it by contributing more negative energy.

The Five Keys to Success with Action

Greetings:

I have shared these steps before but however given what is going on I thought reviewing these were important. I find that the best way to beat fear is through action.

The Five Keys to Success with Action

1. You need help.

It can be so difficult to do it on your own. Even the Loan Ranger had Tonto. Trust me I use to be the “I can do it myself” kind of gal. I usually got what I went after but at a price. No longer. I now belong to a MasterMind group, have a coach (sometimes more than one at a time) and belong to several on-line success groups. All of this has helped make it possible for me to get what I want faster, easier and with less effort. Don’t go it alone, get help in achieving what you want in life.

2. Accountability is key

I have no idea why but it is true, you are more likely to keep a promise made to someone else than to yourself. If you tell someone else you are going to do something you are ten times more likely to do it than if you just tell yourself. Having someone to be accountable to will increase your chances of success!

3. Do something towards your goal every day

Yes I know every day is a lot, trust me I hear it all the time. But I didn’t design the way life works, I just do my best to leverage it. If you want to be successful you need to do something every day towards your goals and dreams. The good news is it doesn’t have to be major, small steps will get you to where you want to go.

4. Get rid of your excuses

If you are not taking the actions necessary to achieve your goals and dreams, it is time to ask yourself, “What is getting in my way?” Most of the answers you get will be excuses. You are letting excuses steal your goals and dreams away from you. If you really want what you say you want you will figure out a way around the excuses and make it happen. Perhaps the question should be, “How bad do you really want it?”

5. The how is none of your business

Many people get stopped in their tracks because they focus on the “How.” The how is none of your business. What you need to focus on is what you want and why. Once you are crystal clear with the “what” and the “why” the “How” will reveal itself. So relax, the how isn’t your job, you simply need to focus on what it is you want and follow the inspired steps you will be shown.

Vote Early

Greetings:

You would have to live under a rock not to be aware that in the US we have a BIG Presidential election coming up. It saddens me that so many people don’t vote. My grandmother was born into a country where she couldn’t vote or even own property. My grandmother was born in the Unite States.

I wouldn’t miss voting and especially in this election. There is just too much at stake. I went ahead and mailed my vote in. I didn’t want to wait in fear that I would forget about it and miss the opportunity. If you have a mail in ballot send it in now! If not go vote early. Just get it taken care.

Voting is a right and a responsibility. Just do it.
