Luck Is More A Matter Of Choice Than Chance
Luck is more of a choice than a matter of random chance. Luck comes to those who are ready to take advantage of that luck. We have a choice about being lucky.
We can think that luck is random, but luck often comes to those who have put themselves in the right place. If we don't make ourselves available to luck, we could miss out. If we are out in the world letting people know what we do and we land a lucrative contract, is that because we are lucky or because we created that opportunity? Luck comes to those who create it. To create luck, we must be willing and open to the possibilities and not be afraid of a little hard work.
Luck can also come in the form of what we don't get. Usually, we think of luck as winning the lottery but luck isn't always about winning. Sometimes the best luck we can have is created by what we lose. Losing my corporate job was the luckiest thing that ever happened to me even though at the time it didn't seem that way. If I had not been laid off, I never would have quit my job and I never would have taken the chance to start my own business. Sometimes it is only in hindsight that we can recognize luck.
We create our luck by what we think about luck. If we think we are lucky, then we are right and if we think we are unlucky, then we are also right. Begin to think of yourself as a lucky person and your luck will change. I sat next to a woman at a networking event who won a door prize. As she collected the prize she said, "I am so lucky. I always win." I on the other hand was thinking, "I am not lucky. I never win." I have since changed that mantra. I have begun to think of myself as lucky, and you know what, I am. I often win things and I have the luckiest things happen to me. Whatever you believe to be true is.
If you want more luck in your life begin to see yourself as a lucky person. Start telling yourself that you are lucky. Create an affirmation that affirms how lucky you are and say it often. And most importantly, start noticing the luck that already occurs in your life. Everyday that you wake up alive is a lucky day.
Keep a luck journal. Every night before bed, write down one lucky thing that happened to you that day. Maybe you found a penny, had someone give you something unexpectedly, or found something that you always wanted on sale. Whatever it is, notice the luck and start recording it in your journal. After awhile, you will begin to see how lucky you are. The more you notice luck in your life the luckier you will get.
Here's to being lucky,
Rachelle
