Prosperity and Goal Setting

Greetings:

I have shared with you the first law of spiritual prosperity from Edwene Gaines book "The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity - A simple guide to unlimited abundance" Now for the second one which I must say took me back. Not because I don't whole heartily support and believe in it, I just never associated it with Prosperity. At least not directly. The second law is Goal setting.

There certainly is nothing new there. For year's success Guru's have been touting the importance of goal setting. However I have never actually heard anyone connect it directly with prosperity not to mention calling it a law. It makes sense though.

What I love most about Edwene's book is it practical. This isn't some airy fairy just contemplate your navel and you'll get rich book. This is about what you can "do" in order to increase your prosperity. The key word is "do." This book is about taking action and you know I am all about that!

So how does Edwene say to use goal setting as a prosperity tool. She gives eight steps to her goal setting process. To boil it down what she advises is to get crystal clear on what you want, set your intention and then take the necessary steps in order to get it. I would add to do daily action, something every day towards your goal.

What I think is most important about what Edwene says it that you have to get crystal clear on what you want. She uses the example that you wouldn't call a catalog company and say "Send me something I would like." I like to use the example of going into a restaurant and saying, "Bring me something to eat." The very first crucial step in goal achieving is to know exactly what you want.

This may sound obvious but my experience as a coach tells me most people know what they don't want but are not so clear on what they do want. If you don't know what you want, or you have some vague idea of what you want, you will have a challenging time getting it.

According to Wallace Wattles in the book "The Science of Getting Rich,"

You must have it before you can give it, and many people fail
to impress thinking substance because they have themselves only
a vague and misty concept of the things they want to do, to have,
or to become.

It is not enough that you should have a general desire for
wealth “to do good with.” Everybody has that desire.
It is not enough that you should have a wish to travel, see
things, live more, etc. Everybody has those desires also. If you
were going to send a wireless message to a friend, you would
not send the letters of the alphabet in their order and let him
construct the message for himself, nor would you take words at
random from the dictionary. You would send a coherent sentence,
one which meant something.

When you try to impress your wants upon the thinking substance,
remember that it must be done by a coherent statement.
You must know what you want and be specific and definite. You
can never get rich or start the creative power into action by sending
out unformed longings and vague desires.

How has goal setting worked for you? How important has it been in the process for you to know exactly what you want?

Here's to taking action,

Rachelle
