Life Lessons from Sex and the City
Greetings:
Okay I make no secret of it, I am a big fan of Sex and the City. I watched about three seasons of the show and was excited to see the movie. If you are a Sex and the City fan you will not be disappointed in the movie. It is like watching six episodes back to back. The clothes have gotten nicer for the most part and the shoes are amazing.
However besides fashion tips there are a few tips one can pick up from the movie. The biggest one is the importance and value of friendship. There are two amazing scenes in the movie where I was brought to tears, both had to do with the amazing power of friendship. The movie, as did the show, does a great job of depicting female relationships and how powerful, positive and necessary they can be.
I have written a lot about friendships over the years in 365 Days of Coaching. According to me,
"According to a study conducted by the Australian Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ALSA) friendships are more important than family when it comes to survival. The study concluded, "that a network of good friends is more likely than close family relationships to increase longevity in older people." Other studies suggest that friendships increase the feeling of happiness and stave off other illnesses."
The only other life lesson I got from watching the movie Sex and the City is "it's just a movie." I would love to see people put as much passion and energy into their own lives as they do watching others live their lives (imaginary as they are). It is great entertainment but so is your life. Live it to the fullest. Go out and create your own exciting adventure.
If I had to rate the movie I would give it four stars out of five. It was good to see the girls grow up and move on.
Here's to taking action,
Rachelle
