Slow and steady

Greetings:

Well we made it through a week in the Daily Action Power Process - 90 Days to Success. I actually had to start over twice! It takes time to create habits and actually I realized that I needed time to adjust and figure out just what I wanted to be doing. I also realized that trying to do too much in any given day is a recipe for failure. Keep in mind that what you are doing in the Daily Action Power Process is in addition to what you already are doing, not instead of.

"Dr. Covey has repeatedly said that it takes 90 days to make a habit stick. So the challenge isn't in learning new information, it's having enough Focus to carry the change through to your behavior."

I know that some guru's say that it takes 21 days to create a habit, however I agree with Dr. Covey. It takes at least 90 days to get a new habit to stick. And that is what we are doing here, getting it to stick.

I also realize that the 90 Day Process may take longer. I for one will be a few days over the 90 days. The amount of time you spend on the Process isn't as important as doing it. You want to stick with it so the habit sticks with you. Remember if you skip a day you have to start over at day one!

What I am most proud of this week is walking every day. I didn't miss that once. I also realized I wanted to add my Speed Reading Practice into the mix and my Marketing Study. I figure those three things would be enough and if done consistently will bring me the results I want. Doing just these three things will have a ripple affect in all areas of my life. I started off more eclectic and realized I needed to narrow my actions down. Those three things fit nicely into the goals I have set and will have the biggest impact. You don't have to do the same thing every day, I just realized for me it will simplify things and make it much easier for me.

Of course keep in mind that there are other things I am doing each day which at times makes it challenging. What I have found works best is to do the things that I am doing in the 90 Day Process first. The first thing each day I walk my dogs for 20 minutes. That gets it out of the way and I don't have to worry about it for the rest of the day. I have found that if I leave the Process steps to later in the day there is a risk I might not get them done.

If you are a member of 365 Days of Coaching you can find an outline and worksheets for the Power Process in the Members Only area. If you are not a member, you should be. Go to 365 Days of Coaching to subscribe and reap all the benefits of being a member.

Just keep in mind that this isn't about racing along and achieving success overnight. This is about making success a habit and creating it over time.

Here's to taking action,

Rachelle
