Tell the truth in advance

Greetings:

The issue of 365 Days of Coaching that went out today was titled "Tell the Truth in Advance." The concept came from a talk I heard Zig Zigler give about how to respond when people ask you how you are doing. Zig suggested saying, "I am better than good." When people asked if they should say that if it isn't true he replied, "Well you plan on it being true don't you? All you are doing is telling the truth in advance."

I focused the Day on how to reply to people when they ask you how you are doing. I always answer that question with something like "Better than ever" or "Life is great and only getting better." (that is my personal favorite) I feel like I am simply sharing my positive affirmations with others.

I got to thinking about this and I realized that I have used this concept of telling the truth in advance in other ways as well. When I first started my business people would ask me how it was going. I always replied, "Business is great and only getting better." Or "It is growing every day." Even if business wasn't exactly as good as I wanted it to be I knew it would be someday. I just told the truth in advance. The good news it the truth came true.

I believe that telling the truth in advance is simply sharing your positive affirmations out loud with yourself and others. What you say about how things are and are going to be is important. Your thoughts and words create your future. As long as you are the one creating the future you might as well make it a good one!

Notice how you respond to others when they ask you about your life and how things are going. Do you focus on all the problems and challenges? Or do you tell the truth in advance and create a positive future with your words?

I would love to hear about how you respond to the question, "How are you?" Please leave your comments on the blog.

Here's to taking action,

Rachelle

When people ask me "How are you?", I simply respond with "Wonderful, how about you?". There are many responses people give me from positive to negative. I always try to be positive. Each day is a new day to be grateful and positive.
