A few more books off the shelf

Greetings:

Well I am working on my goal of reading all the books on my shelves. I have promised myself I won't buy any new books until I have read all the ones I already have. The books I receive as gifts don't count!

Two more books are off the shelves. I read, well I have to confess, listened to, two books on my trip to New Mexico. The trip is 444 miles one way so there is plenty of time to get in a book or two. I bought the CD's last year but didn't get to them because Dan Brown's Angel's and Demons took the entire trip. A tad too violent for me, still a book worth listening to or even reading.

The first book we listened to was Baxter Black's "Hey Cowgirl Need a Ride." This was the book I was listening to that caused me to almost run out of gas in the middle of NoWhere New Mexico. I was so caught up in the story I forgot to check the gas gauge. Now that should tell you how good it was. Baxter says that is worth 450 miles of listening which I think he is pretty close.

The second book was by David Sedaris "Me Talk Pretty Some Day." My husband and I had a detailed discussion as to who picked out this book on tape. I swear I had no idea who David Sedaris was and my husband swears neither did he. So the book was a surprise, delightfully so. It actually isn't a story but short stories written by David about his life. He is hysterical. If you want to laugh out loud, this is a great book. To hear Davie read one of his stories out YouTube, he is reading one of the stories from the book, "Bend over and say ah."

So I have been able to take a few books off the shelves, and looking forward to reading even more. Want to make room for all the new books I am lusting after.

"Me Talk Pretty One Day" was one of my favorite books. I love Sedaris. In fact, Rob and I are going to hear him in person tomorrow night in Denver. Can't wait!

Sedaris is going to be in Denver! That is exciting. This was my first experience of him! Where have I been?
