Life Is A Series Of Adjustments

When I found out that airplane pilots are off course most of the time during a flight and only make it to their targeted destination by making constant adjustments, I was amazed. However, when I think about it, life follows the same process. We are making constant adjustments every day.

I love the quote, "Life happens while we are making other plans." Although you might have your day planned out to reach your goals and objectives you must make constant adjustments. Adjustments are required when the sitter doesn't show, your project loses funding, the car has a flat tire, or your plans for dinner fall through. Because you are accustomed to making adjustments every day most likely they go unnoticed. The practice of making these adjustments are crucial because they prepare you for the bigger adjustments that life throws your way.

My husband and I decided to adopt a special needs fur child from the United Yorkie Rescue. His name is Buddy and he is a Yorkish type dog. He is sweet and loving, but a handful. I was amazed at how much he has turned our lives upside down. Even our other Yorkie, Surrobbie, is feeling the stress as she adjusts to the new member of the family. Although Buddy is a challenge, knowing that the adjustments are all part of the process has made it easier to manage. I know that in a few months we will all settle into our new roles and be comfortable with one another, but, for now, we are making constant adjustments.

Adjustments are part of life; in fact, you are constantly making adjustments. This is a good thing because the little adjustments in life help to prepare you for the bigger ones that will come your way. When you are faced with a big adjustment, such as a change in employment, a divorce, a marriage, a new member of the family, or other life altering events, keep in mind that, although major at the time, you have the training to make the necessary adjustments.
