=============================================

Creativity is the gift of life. Creativity helps us expand our ability to think. It really does not matter what form creativity takes, planting a garden or cooking a meal. The art of creativity comes simply in the act of creating.

I have started my holiday projects. Each year I make something that I give as a gift to my friends and family. This year I am making ceramic coasters out of tiles that I am painting and then baking. I must admit that the tiles look like something my twelve-year-old nephew would create, but no matter. I am having a great time creating these works of art. In addition, what I notice, as I am painting and stamping and even doing some figure painting, is that I am thinking. My mind is free to wander and I have come up with several solutions to problems I have been working on. Without even focusing on the problem, the solution seemed to slip into my mind. Often when we are focusing on something else and allowing ourselves the gift of creativity, we can come up with solutions that we could not think of during our serious work.

Coaching

Hobbies are the best way to express our creativity. They allow us to step out of the work-a-day process and into a more creative environment. Often the creativity of a hobby will slip into our everyday life and we will be able to see solutions where other people see only problems.

Learn something for the fun of it. Hobbies are the best way to learn something new and strengthen our creativity muscle. Hobbies help us step out of our everyday solutions and into a more creative mindset. And there is an additional benefit to having a hobby. Research has shown that those who have hobbies live longer.

"It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." Herman Melville
