There is Always a Way Out

There are times when we get stuck in our lives and we don't see a way out. If there is a way in, there is always a way out. We can get bogged down in the thick of things and think that we are doomed forever, but forever doesn't always last that long. We need to shift our perspective from thinking that we are stuck with no way out to seeing the possibilities. That doesn't mean that we will like the choices that we have, but that isn't the same as not having them.

Coaching

Often, my clients will tell me that they can't leave their job or change their life because there is no way out. They can't do anything because they have no choice. The thing to remember is if we got ourselves into something, we can get ourselves out. We may not like the options, but we always have them.

Stop to consider what options you have. Knowing that you have options is empowering. Once we begin to consider that we may have choices, other choices may appear that we had not considered. Giving ourselves permission to consider a way out often leads to new and creative solutions that we had not thought of before.

It can be difficult to see the choices and possibilities by ourselves. It is often helpful to have a non-biased person help you discover what options you do have. Brainstorming with a coach or a trusted friend can be very helpful when we feel stuck. Often someone who is outside of our circumstance can see ways out that we can't even imagine.

Coaching Challenge

Are you struggling with a situation that you feel there is no way out? In your journal, write down all the ways you can see to change the situation, be outrageous. Don't worry if they are practical or not, just get them out of your head and down on paper. Once you exhaust all the ideas you have, show them to your coach or friend and have them work through the list with you. Eliminate the ones that won't work until you come up with one or two that you are willing to try.

Coaching Question

Do you realize you have a way out?

Daily Success Formula

Listing your options + Being open to possibilities = A way out

Quotes

"Your life is the sum result of all the choices you make, both consciously and unconsciously. If you can control the process of choosing, you can take control of all aspects of your life. You can find the freedom that comes from being in charge of yourself." Robert F. Bennett

"Not liking our choices doesn't mean we don't have them." Coach Lee
