Right Away Quick

=============================================

I had a scheduled meeting with a gentleman to discuss details of a project we were working on. When I arrived at his office, he was in a dither and asked if I could wait a few minutes. I only had thirty minutes available to spend with him, but I figured a few minutes wouldn't be that big a deal. He came back into the office and asked if I could wait another minute while he made an urgent telephone call. During his conversation, he said to the person on the other end of the telephone, "I need this right away quick." It seemed that everything in this gentleman's life was needed right away quick. I asked him about that when he got off the telephone. He replied, "Yes I guess it is just a way of life."

He is absolutely right. It is a way of life and a way of life is a choice. We can choose to have everything be an emergency or not. Not everything in life can be or needs to be right away quick. Sometimes we get into the habit of thinking that it is simply the way things have to be, but it is a choice.

Coaching

Emergencies happen in life, but if everything in life is an emergency then one has to wonder what is going on. Life is not an emergency. There is really no need to rush. The end is going to get here soon enough.

If you are living your life as an emergency, stop and check out what is going on. When we are living our lives as an emergency, we are simply living off adrenaline. That is certainly one way to fuel ourselves, but there are other more positive ways to create energy in our lives. The next time you feel yourself going into emergency mode ask yourself if this really is an emergency or is it your way of life?

Are you living your life as an emergency?
