Life Juggling Requires Three Hands

=============================================

With as many things as we have in our lives to juggle, it requires not just two hands, but three or more to keep up with everything. Although physically it isn't possible to grow another limb, it is possible to create the support another hand would give us.

There are two things we can do when we are juggling way too much dump it or delegate it. There is a possibility that we simply are juggling too many balls and that a few could be let go. Ask yourself if you really need to do all that you are doing, such as volunteering for every committee, working overtime and watching hours of television. I once had a client that complained all the time about not having enough time. What I requested she do was keep a time journal and write down everything she was doing each day for a week. When it came back, I was shocked. She was watching over 20 hours of television a week. When I brought this to her attention she was shocked too. She simply didn't realize what a time sucker the television was. She cut back the amount of television she was watching thus freeing up some much needed time. She eventually gave her television away because once she started doing more exciting things with her time she realized she simply didn't need the distraction. I am not advocating that you give your television set away, but look around and check to see if you have anything in your life that is taking way too much of your time and can be replaced with something more productive.

The other thing we can do is one of the hardest for most people and that is delegating. It is hard to believe but other people are capable of doing things too. In the past, I fell into the trap of believing that no one could do what I do as well as I do it. Not true, sometimes I have found that other people can do what I do just as well or better. I now follow the rule of "Do only what I can do and delegate the rest." Look around and check to see if you are doing everything and not delegating what others can do. People will help if you ask.

Coaching

In the juggling game of life, there are really only a few balls that are fragile. Most will not shatter if dropped and some will simply bounce away.

Figure out what balls you can let go all together and which ones you can delegate. Once you do that you might find that you have all the time you need to focus on what is most important and keep the balls that matter in the air.

Are you over-juggling?

Daily Success Formula

Dumping + Delegating = Juggling only what is important

Quotes

"I always wanted to be somebody. If I made it, it's half because I was game enough to take a lot of punishment along the way and half because there were a lot of people who cared enough to help me." Althea Gibson
