Those Who Can't Do - Criticize

=============================================

A phenomenon I have observed is that people who can't do it or won't do it feel free to criticize those who do do it. Instead of being supportive or encouraging, those who lack the talent or the willingness love to tell the people, who are out there, how bad, how wrong, and how inept they are.

Case in point. Ken Blanchard was told he could not write. According to Blanchard, "All my professors told me I couldn't write. In fact, when I got into graduate school, they said, "Don't become a teacher because there's a rule about publishing or perishing and you'll never be able to make it."

Thank goodness Ken didn't listen to his professors. He has published more than a dozen books and is the only author to have four books on Business Week's top 15-bestseller list at the same time. His book, "The One Minute Manager," has sold over nine million copies and has been printed in 25 languages.

There will always be people to tell you how you can't do it. Ignore them. Figure out for yourself what you want to do and then go do it. Most successful people have been told, at least once, that they were not good enough to succeed. They ignored the critics and went on to success.

Coaching

Before you decide to ditch your dreams on the advise of a critic, take a look at who is giving the advice. Are they successful? Are they experienced in doing what you want to do? Are they risk takers? Most likely, they are not. People, who are successful and know what it takes to be successful, will encourage you. They will support you in your quest and share their wisdom with you and they will never tell you not to try. Only those unwilling to do it themselves will find fault with your pursuit of success.

Who is the critic in your life?

Daily Success Formula

Critics = People unwilling to do it + People who failed to do it

Quotes

"Do just once what others say you can't do, and you will never pay attention to their limitations again." James R. Cook

"I'm not going to limit myself just because people won't accept the fact that I can do something else." Dolly Parton
