Taste Is A Matter Of Opinion

=============================================

I can remember when I thought that good taste was the same as my taste and bad taste was anything I didn't like. Experience has taught me that taste isn't a matter of good or bad, right or wrong, but simply a personal preference. There are as many variations of taste as there are people.

Once I gave up judging other people's tastes, I could enjoy the diversity that different people with different taste offer. If everyone liked the same things, life would be pretty boring.

Instead of judging, I observe. I find that other's tastes as interesting, amusing, and sometimes even educational. This allows me to respect the other person even if I don't agree with their preferences. Not liking the way others express themselves is fine. We don't have to like the expression in order to respect the other person's right to express it. I don't have to like a plain style, green hair, or eccentric clothing, but I can respect the people who do.

Coaching

Letting go of judgment about how others express themselves frees up so much energy. I used to spend time judging the personal tastes of others. Now I just observe it and find it interesting without putting any energy into it. This allows me to appreciate them and their style and save my energy to focus on developing my style.

How are you expressing yourself?
