Funny how people think that they can't do
something because of what other people think. The only thing
you need to pull off something is confidence in yourself
that you can do it.
For the holidays, I received two tiaras.
I was so excited and have been wearing one or the other
wherever I go. Everyone has commented that I am the only
one who could pull off wearing a tiara. Not true. Anyone
can wear a tiara or anything else they want. The only thing
you have to do is just do it. As long as what you do doesn't
hurt anyone else, people are fine with it. And most people
don't really care what we do. They are way too concerned
with themselves to really worry about us.
The other funny thing is that people don't
look at us and think anything about us. They think about
what we are doing and how it may affect them. What people
say or ask about the tiara has something to do with them.
For instance, they say they could never wear a tiara in
public, or they wish they had one, and many people ask if
they can try it on.
People are judgmental and they will make
judgments about what we are doing. But the judgments don't
have anything to do with who we are. Their judgments are
based on who they are. Nothing anyone does is personal to
us. It isn't about us. It is about them. So if they are
being judgmental, they are truly only judging themselves.
Coaching
You can pull off anything you want. You
can be whoever you want to be. You simply have to do it.
Don't let other people's ideas and fears keep you from being
yourself.
One of the 365 Days of Coaching subscribers
shared with me that he has sat on Santa's lap almost every
year since he was a child. He is now in his forties. When
he shared that with me, I thought, "How can he do that?"
Then I realized he could because he does. He loves to do
it and he doesn't let what other people think stop him.
Life would be so much better and a lot more
fun if we stopped worrying about what other people think
and just do what brings us happiness and joy. Can you imagine
what life would be life if everyone was living their life
to the fullest and being the happiest they could be? Of
course, remembering the first rule, as long as it doesn't
hurt anyone else. If everyone would live life to the fullest
everyone would benefit.
What can you pull off today?
