Dorothy Had A Plan

=============================================

One of the best ways to guarantee that we will achieve our goal is to have a plan. Dorothy, in the Wizard of Oz, had a plan. Her goal was to get back to Kansas and Auntie Em and the plan was to follow the Yellow Brick Road. In addition to her plan, she surrounded herself with a support group that helped her along the way. But most important is that Dorothy had a plan to follow the Yellow Brick Road and she stuck with that plan.

We might think that Dorothy had it easy. After all, the road was laid out in front of her. All she had to do was follow it. Not so. Dorothy had no idea when the road would end, what was around the next corner, or if this was even the right road. It took courage, trust, and faith to follow the road that lay ahead. And so it is with our plans. The plan is the road and we must be willing to follow our plan, make the adjustments needed as we go, and stick with it no matter what. Dorothy didn't give up even when it seemed impossible. She followed the plan and kept her eye on the road.

Coaching

It is good to have a goal, but without a plan, it will be difficult to achieve even the most compelling goals. Knowing what we want is important and knowing what we will do to get it is essential. Mapping out our plan and sticking with it will support us in achieving our goals. And don't forget to build in flexibility. We might be surprised what we reach when we get to the end of our plan.

Do you have a plan to reach your goals?
