What To Do When Life Gives You Lemons And You Have No Squeezer

Oftentimes, when something happens, I can see the benefit in the situation even if the situation isn't a pleasant one. Being born an eternal optimist has its benefits and one benefit is to always see the positive. Although, even with my optimistic nature, there have been times when I have not been able to see the good in a given situation. In life, there are things that are going to happen and the only way around them is through them.

Even if we are not be able to see the positive or make the situation any better at the time we can get through it simply by taking one step at a time. There is no doubt that there will be times when things will be pretty awful. When my grandmother died, there was no way I could see any good in that at all. I missed her. The only way through that situation was to grieve, cry, and let time pass.

There is nothing wrong with feeling sad. Sadness, disappointment, and grief are all part of life. To be fully human means to embrace all emotions the joyful ones and the not so joyful ones. My experience is that by embracing and deeply feeling all my emotions I am able to love, feel joy, pleasure, and happiness at a much deeper level.

When difficult times strike, it is important to have a strong support team in place. Good friends, family, and even a coach can be invaluable when we need someone to lean on, hear us out, and give us encouragement. Also, taking really good care of ourselves when times get difficult is essential. When misfortune strikes and turns our world upside down, our healthy habits, such as eating right, exercising, and taking quiet time, are the first things to go. Don't forget to take care of yourself during times of challenge. It is even more important when things are tough to take care of ourselves and stay as strong emotionally and physically as we can.

There are times when life gets tough and there is no way out of the situation. The only thing we can do is go through it. Always remember that as bad as it does seem at the moment it will get better. It is at the most difficult times in our lives that we most need a strong support team and a strong personal foundation that will keep us healthy during the most challenging times.

The time to prepare for difficult times isn't when they happen. Today is a good day to take a look at who is in your life. Do you have a support system that you can depend on? Who is your best friend? Who are the people that you can depend on when needed? Also, are you taking really good care of yourself now? Forming strong life habits now will help you weather the storm of difficult times later.
